COVID-19 Response

Our shelters remain FULL and OPEN 24/7 throughout this pandemic. Your support will make a difference.

Our shelters remain FULL and OPEN 24/7 throughout this pandemic. Your support will make a difference.

Thank you to all of our supporters who are concerned for our clients, and to those who have asked how they can help HWP during this crisis – we are truly grateful.

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, we are all facing an unprecedented challenge. Shelter life, which is never an easy one, is made even more challenging right now when feelings of uncertainty, fear, anxiety and isolation are troubling the women and children who are staying with us. We are also facing an increased demand for services, as women are co-quarantined with an abuser, or are concerned about having to self-isolate in a dangerous home situation

How is Halton Women’s Place Responding to this Crisis?

  • Essential staff and program counsellors continue to be on-site and remain available to support our in-house and outreach clients. Support staff are working from home.
  • Currently, we are at full capacity in both shelters, and we are advising the women and children at the shelter to remain indoors and self-isolate. We have implemented distancing measures in communal areas.
  • Non-essential visitors to both shelters have been stopped, and we are not accepting in-person donations at the shelters.
  • Our 24/7 crisis and information lines remain open,  and will continue to offer  support, counselling and information in complete confidentiality over the phone. Our crisis line can be reached at 905-332-7892 (Burlington/Oakville) or 905-878-8555 (Milton/Halton Hills)

How Can I Help?

Your online donations during this time will go towards critical supplies and services. You can help ensure that we can continue to keep our shelters running as normal and continue to support the women who depend on our crisis and counselling services.

Thank you once again for all your support and for helping us keep women and children safe.
