UN·MASC: Addressing Men’s Role in Ending Sexual Violence
May is Sexual Violence Awareness Month. This month is all about raising awareness, supporting survivors, and educating individuals on how they can be intervene and work towards prevention every day.
The statistics are alarming. Sexual violence is happening in all of our communities.
- Of all sexual assault incidences, 47% are committed against young women aged 15 to 24.
- 85% of victims know their perpetrator.
The unhealthy behaviours (comments, jokes, harassment) you witness are opportunities to intervene and change unhealthy attitudes that contribute to sexual violence. Get the knowledge & tools you need to create safer spaces!
JOIN OUR CONVERSATION on May 30th with guest speaker, Keith Edwards. He will discuss the roots of sexual violence, the role men and boys play in ending sexual violence, and how we can work together to stop sexual violence before it begins.

The 29th Annual Charity Golf Tournament
For our 2022 Tournament, we’re thrilled to be returning to Piper’s Heath Golf Club after a wonderful event last year! With many COVID-19 restrictions now lifted, we are also looking forward to our Tournament returning to its traditional format of a shotgun start with a banquet dinner, and more contests on the course!
HWP has worked hard to support our clients throughout the pandemic, and we continue to need the community’s support as Halton Region continues to reopen, and our shelters begin to reach capacity once again.
Our annual charity golf tournament is one of the major fundraisers for Halton Women’s Place. We rely on its success to support our 24-hour emergency shelter services, crisis counselling, children’s programs and transition services to abused women and their dependent children.
The success of this event depends on the support and generosity of our community.
