Ask for Angela
A safety campaign helping women and girls get support when they need it most. Discreet help is just a conversation away.
What is Ask for Angela?
Ask for Angela originated in the UK and is a campaign that helps women and girls who are feeling vulnerable on a night out to get the support they need. This year, this campaign has also been picked up by Loblaws and Victim Services across Ontario to support women shopping in participating Loblaw stores.
Halton Women’s Place and Victim Services Halton have partnered to bring this campaign to participating restaurants and bars across the Region.
Why Ask for Angela?
Sometimes you can find yourself in a situation that isn’t safe or that makes you feel uncomfortable. In premises that operate Ask for Angela, you can discreetly ask for help by “asking for Angela.”
How It Works
Ask for Angela
Discreetly approach any staff member and ask for “Angela” when you need help or feel unsafe.
Staff Responds
Trained staff will understand you need help and respond appropriately and discreetly.
Get Support
Staff may call security, lead you to a safe space, or help you leave the premises unnoticed.
What happens after I “Ask for Angela”?
The trained member of staff will understand the person asking is in need of help and support and will be able to respond in an appropriate, discreet way. They might call security, lead the person to a safe space, or help them leave the premises unnoticed.
How do I know which restaurants or bars are part of the campaign?
All participating restaurants and bars will have posters in the women’s washrooms.
