In Ontario, November is Woman Abuse Prevention Month.
Statistics tell us that at least half of all women in Canada have experienced at least one incident of physical or sexual violence since they have turned 16, and on average every six days a woman is murdered by her intimate partner.
This month, Halton Women’s Place announces the return of their Lottery of Hope Campaign. By purchasing tickets, you can show your support for the only women’s shelter in Halton and help in preventing and ending violence against women.
As the jackpot grows, so does the support for women and children experiencing violence and abuse.
Watch for HWP’s purple flags flying at all Town and City Halls, police headquarters turning on their purple lights and make sure to wear your purple on November 15th and tag the shelter on social media – @HaltonWomensPlace (for Facebook and Instagram) and @HaltonWomensPl on Twitter. Tickets for the Lottery of Hope can be purchased at www.hwp5050.ca until Dec 14th – with the final draw happening on December 15th at noon.
Early Bird prize is drawn on November 15th sponsored by Ana Bastas – https://www.anabastas.com/
